Can anybody here help me with a dilemma i've come across trying to access my new Sky Digital Broadband service...
Basically I have a HP Compaq 6820s laptop which I've owned for a couple of weeks now and by rights, I should be online at home seeing as it has built-in WiFi and I followed the instructions as clearly stated including connecting the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port and yet I got a message basically stating that I wasn't connected even though all the relevant lights on the wireless modem router [Internet, Wireless and Power] were lit up properly.
I phoned Sky Digital's technical support department where I was told in a helpful manner that it was indeed due to be activated yesterday and that the connection was already set up but that the activation itself could take place at any time until midnight that day.
I decided to leave the reinstallation until today and I got the same message as yesterday so I called the technical support department again where after I was told to go into Device Manager and check the network devices, it seemed that the "Intel 82562GT 10/100 Network Connection Driver" was blocking the connection at the last hurdle for some reason and I was advised to get a up-to-date version.
The main problem is that I don't know if I need one that's specific to my 6820s laptop or a generic version.
If anybody can help me get online, I'd be really grateful even if I have to download the damn file using my mobile phone onto my memory card, I'd do it if it meant getting online ASAP!
