area51m7700 MOBO and BSOD...help pls

For the second time in two years, I had to send the machine back to get a dead MOBO replaced...When it came back, the machine would not even turn on...I called alienware and they had me re-seat the ram and the harddrive and video card and then it would boot up and go to windows...Now, I keep getting BSOD as soon as I log onto windows...I have gotten at least four different error msgs and codes on the BSODs including some sort of page error, win32k error, codes 08 and codes 50 and 19...

I'd very much appreciate any opinions as to what might be at fault...I've been on the phone with alienware all day and have tried taking out the rams and putting them back in different slots one by one in all combinations, but keep getting the BSOD....

thank you....

I had my mobo replaced and they replaced the video card instead the first time. I didn't have any BSODs on my new board, however. I'd push them to replace it again since various error codes point to the most recently changed piece of hardware. Good luck!

when they changed my mobo in mine they never reformatted and reinstalled windows. they just slapped it together and sent it back. they couldn't of possibly turned it on to check it because nothing worked right. I reinstalled windows and everything worked fine for a year till it blew another motherboard. the m7700 put a bad taste in my mouth. both the poor quality of the m7700 and the lack of proper testing when they sent it new and after they fixed it. all they had to do was fire it up and they'd of caught the stuff that was wrong. when they sent it new they did even check if the dvd burner was compatible. that being said I love my desktop I got from them and haven't had any probs other then a wierd noise from one of the fans every now and then. reinstall windows and see what happens. if that don't help or you have a hard time installing the os(cd-rom prob) try swapping and takeing out ram and see if that works.maybe you have a bad stick. if you remove one and it works fine then leave that stick out . remember though you alway need ram in the #1 slot if you only have one stick. if you have two and your hyperthreading you'll need to disable it in the bios to only run one stick. I think if you reinstall windows you'll be ok, hopefully.

When the replaced my mobo, my drives were in RAID 0 and it came back to me 100% working with all my original data on it.

that's cool. I didn't get that lucky. Mine was doing the same thing as cdnalien's when I got it back. Reinstalling windows fixed mine. hopefully thist is all that's wrong and he doesn't have to send it back for a third mobo. It took me almost two months to get mine back. it sux to have to wait that long.

cdnalien, let me know if reinstalling windows works. make sure if you have raid to make a floppy of the raid drivers. you might not need to worry about that if you have respawn. I'm not sure how respawn does it. I've never used it. putting a fresh copy of windows is easier than sending it back. it's worth a try though. hopefully alienware didn't throw another bad motherboard in there. that would suck.

I tried re-installing windows and it blue-screened DURING the install...I noticed in my bios that the settings appear correct (i.e. RAID off since I dont have RAID) but "hyperthreading" is ON...is that normal?

Yes, hyper threading is supposed to be on. I don't know what to say about the BSODs. Keep trying the install, and disable your card reader in BIOS too.

turn off hyperthreading in bios and take out all of your ram but the one in the #1 slot and try putting windows on again. if it works you need another stick. if it doesn't, swap the other stick of ram you pulled out with the one in the #1 slot. and try again. keep doing that with all your ram if you have more than two sticks. hopefully it fires up and works right. it'll be slower with only one stick in but if it'll work until you can get more ram. remember hyperthreading "on" if you have more than one stick of ram and "off " if you only have one stick. make sure when you put them back in to put them in the right slots. I think if you only have two sticks you need to put it in slots one and three but it's been so long since I've been into it that I'm not sure. anyways you'll see how they have them in there. good luck, man
