VGA Out Problem!

Thread Starter
Hi there, i have an HP dv1000, and recently i've been having a strange VGA problem...

When i connect my laptop to a monitor (i've tried multiple monitors!) and output it to it (using either Display Properties or Fn+f4) it doesn't seem to output on the monitor!

The weird thing is, it detects that there is a monitor there! I've tried this on other operating systems as well, such as Linux Ubuntu, XP and Vista, and the problem continues to persist!

I've installed chipset drivers and Display drivers countless times, i'm running out of things to do! The BIOS has no options either!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Scorpio123,
I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 and am having exactly the same issue. I too have tried all of the things you tried but to no avail. Did you ever figure out what was causing your problem?

This happened to me a few times, and it pointed to a bad VGA port connector. Replacing it cured the problem.

You might want first to use another cable to test out also.

Have tried multiple monitors so don't think it is a cable problem. Could be a bad VGA connector though.... thanks for the suggestion.
