Hi,

I was wondering if it was possible. Are most of the drivers available for xp? If so, can you direct me to some links? Thanks!!
There's no direct page.
You have to look for the makers of the hw to get the drivers.

Not true. XP, Vista and 64 bit drivers link. This directory has the XP drivers.
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/noteboo...a_5420/driver/

I installed most of the drivers but im having problems with the audio driver. Everything is working but when I hookup my mic or headphones it is not working. When I put the headphones in, I am having problems with the volume. The volume is very low, any help?

Shin3 - I would goto Realtek's site and download their drivers. FYI They seemed to increase a little but I still find the volume somewhat low.

Icho - Try the drivers from AMD/ATI's site for the 1200 series.

I use Vista business 64 bit and works great on this notebook, but finding accessories for it is still rather hard. Mfg's are not fast enough in supplying 64 bit drivers.

well, lucky me i got it working finally, after 4 times downloading the "FTP link" drivers...and it works perfect...thanks guys...
Heatpak..do you think for 1200 will work for me..i mean if i try to update the current drivers with a newer version of Ati catalyst.
and another question...i am not very good with video cards...and hardware but when i install the drivers, it installs only southbridge, well do i have northbridge? or is only for desktops?
thanks

Icho: You're welcome. Now, for your last question. If the video is working I don't think it would be necessary to change the drivers. But if you do, go to AMD's site look under support & drivers. Select integrated/motherboard . You can try the Xpress 1200. If the driver doesn't work, get the X1250. I don't remember if there was a northbridge chip driver for the video.

By the way, I need XP drivers for the Extensa 5420-5687 too and I was wondering did anyone click on that link on post 3. IT DOES NOT WORK! I need the mass storage driver and no its not the TI or the Ricoh driver... A working link would be nice to that driver.
^^the link in post #3 is active and works! just because what you need is not there does not mean it does not work!

for your mass storage, meaning the sata driver? give us some clear info to work with. what was it that you tried to accomplish ?

cheers ...

I got everything to work under XP with my extensa 5420, except my wifi card. I tried both the broadcom and atheros then are on that page:
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/noteboo...a_5420/driver/

but none of them worked.

Anyone can help ?

I also tried the vista version of these drivers and did not get them to work under vista.

Thanks

. Is the device ON?

. You picked up the Broadcomm driver for XP32bits from Acer correct?

. Is this the device in your comp, or is it an Atheros?

cheers ...
Yes the device is on, im sure ive downloaded the right driver cuz i tried 5 or 6 times. I dont really know my device is broadcom but i think it is beacuse there is a label under the pc ''contains broadcom module: Broadcom BCM94312MCG''...

And ive tried Atheros drivers too it doesnt work

Hi Bilasir

I have an Acer Extensa 5420 too, I changed the operating system to XP, but it was a great mistake. I thought that but... I was just like you trying to find the wireless driver everywhere, and it was imposible to find.

After searching it a lot, I found another driver (it is not for 5420, but is compatible with the DOS)

It is another version of the broadcom wireless driver.
You have to change some information of the register, but I did a backup with Driver Genius and I created an executable file.

Here it is!

I hope it will help you.

If not, I teach you how to install it manually.

BYE!

PS: I am writing this post with my Acer Extensa 5420, wireless connection!!
