Video Editing Software

Hey guys,
I posted elsewhere in this site, and no one seems interested. I found this dedicated forum - so here i go...

I'm after a program that edits movies and creates DVDs. Just like MS Movie Maker, but with a bit more class and better features (like preset DVD menus, and video effects). I have seen the capabilities and features of iMovie for mac, and thats exactly what I'm looking for - exept I have windows .

If you have experience with a movie maker, or have found one that you like plz tell me. I'd like to have a program that people have a liking for.

I'd like it to have: (optional)
- Moving DVD menu
- High quality DVD menu (not too pixelated)
- Text entry editing/other editing
- Background music capabilities
- FREE (doesnt really matter if it isnt)

Thnx in advance...

Heh, if you find one let me know. I have yet to see anything on Windows that matches the easy of use and simplicity of iMovie 6 and iDVD. I could do without the new version of iMovie though

Try Pinnacle Studio 10, or better yet, get Adobe Elements and Photoshop Elements bundle.

They're about $100 but are quite powerful, the Adobe Elements bundle can be downloaded from the Adobe website here for a 30 day trial and see if you like them.

Never been impressed by the Adobe Elements, or Pinnacle for that matter myself. I suppose I am just spoiled by Apple.

Love Apple too, I guess I'm just a bit more picky about my video editing tools as I have worked a bit more professionally so I need stuff that iMovie won't give me.

There's also Sony Vegas Studio, which is a more consumer oriented version of Vegas. It's not as powerful as the professional package but still quite powerful for the home/semi-pro video enthusiast.

Yea that is what I got FCE for

iMovie 6 aint bad to be honest, the new version though is something else, good thing it is still a free download for those of us stuck with the new version

thanks for your input - but this thread is out dated like over 6 months ago (don't bump old threads)

anyway, i scraped adobe, that i got off a friend and got a copy of Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6 - which in my opinion is awesome.
it's great for menu's and DVD layouts. burning speed could be better - but eh.

so i use Ulead for the DVD itself, but for the movie editing i have Nero 8 Showtime. and it has an abundance of nifty effects and features.

so here are my recommendations:
-Nero 8 for movie editing
-Ulead DVD Moviefactory 6 for menu's and layout
