Dell is jerking my chain!!!

So I bought my E1705 in July of 2007

it arrived DOA because of a bad video card, they sent me another one and since then this is the list of problems I have had:

Replaced motherboard
Replaced Touch pad
Replaced Keyboard
Replaced motherboard AGAIN
Replaced power adapter
Replaced motherboard THIRD TIME
Replaced power adapter AGAIN!

SO the rep I always talk to finally decided to help me out and order me a new computer.

I was very sure to let him know many times over that I can NOT accept the flimsy E1720 because of the piss poor video card.

SO I was assured that it wouldn't happen.. alas I login to dell my account today to find that it has a new order for a POS $1,110 E1720!!

Not only do I use a 52" plasma that ONLY has a dvi port, but I also will not stand for the worthless 8600M when I play css and quake 3!

So I talked to one rep, and then another, and then customer care, and then tech support who referred me BACK to costumer care who then transfered me to a BUSY LINE, when I called back I was transfered a third time. Every single person said something different but NOBODY could cancel the order and get me a decent system! So The call escalated and escalated to the point of reaching a senior supervisor. But they are all booked so I have a time slot to receive a call from him tomorrow. I have already been told no by five people, including a supervisor and the "policy department"......

What do you say my chances are of getting at LEAST another E1705, or ANYTHING with a dvi port and a decent video card?? Hell I would take a working 9300 before I would take the shitty E1720.....

I hear stories on here every two days about people being upgraded to the M1730 with SLI and raid and BLAH BLAH when I can't even get the same computer I paid for!!!

EDIT: I was VERY polite to everyone I spoke to, made sure they understood that I was very thankful of the help, and never ever rose my voice. I have a senior supervisor calling me tomorrow morning at 10:00AM CST but I am very afraid of getting the EXACT same answer, this post was to see if anyone had a educated guess as to what he might say, thank you!

call dell escalations, and also start your bbb complaint

I think a BBB complaint is really pushing it!! I am trying to be polite about it because threatening a huge corporation doesn't really scare them... But If they don't help me tomorrow should I cancel the order so that it doesn't get shipped and I can have more leverage? Once they ship me the 1720, I am kind of screwed.
Make sure that they understand DVI Port is a Must.

Keep trying,

Oh they understand I badgered the hell out of them about it! Calmly and politely that is :-)

has anyone else had to work this hard? I was in chats and on the phone from 10:00 AM to 4:00PM SOLID trying to get this done!!
it taken some of the guys a few days talking with dell.

Search the forums here, lots of posts about this kind of thing
post #8 of 282

Oh really?? So I shouldn't be super discouraged after day of getting nowhere?
no, Hopefully tommorrows call will get things going in the right direction

And you already know the 1720 is not even close to being a replacement for the E1705
post #11 of 282
Why did they make the E1720 so shitty?

lol my ways the best and dell handles the bbb complaints with there escalation team. you get more done through them

hope you like your 1720

What are you trying to say with the "hope you enjoy your 1720"

so are you saying that if nothing gets done tomorrow with the phone call, that I should TELL them I am making a BBB complaint, or just do it and they will contact me automatically?
he is being a Jerk, Ignore him.

See how your call goes tommorrow and let us know
post #16 of 282
daves being a ass. my way gets things done thats how i got my 1530 replaced correctly instead of the run around by non english speaking reps.

you file a bbb and you actually get things corrected the way they should be.
Just escalate the issue through "unresolved issues"

If that doesn't work, then try the BBB.
BBB seems unncessary... if so many people had their issue resolved through Dell why shouldn't OP's problem be solved as well?

but who knows, sometimes you are just unlucky... BBB may actually work.
I just wish I could talk to someone in the states... I have talked to Indian reps for the last two weeks. And I am no closer to getting my replacment.
