Dell is jerking my chain!!! - Page 2

honestly just the fact that you got any system showing the first day is already more than i accomplished! lol, it took me over 10 days of calling, nagging, and prying them to get any kind of replacement. finally after 10 days i told them i was going to demand a refund and buy a computer that worked ( although the one i have now doesnt either!) and that next day my order was shipped. i would just keep at them. good luck.

A little off topic, but I've had a problem with a company before. It was one of those 3rd party, after your factory warranty expires, we will warranty it for you, for xx dollars a month kind of things. So I did it for about a year, when it came time for me to actually make use of it, they told me it wasn't covered. I spent hours and weeks on the phone with them to get them to stop charging my Debit Card, even went to my bank to have them put a stop payment on them, but they couldn't; Mastercard sucks. Finally I filed a BBB complaint, and the NEXT day they had a reply and canceled my monthly subscription and stopped billing me.

Just letting you know, the BBB does mean a lot to companies.

Okay thanks for the info.

oh by the way HELL NO did the computer show up in one day, I was approved for a system replacement more than a week and a half ago, somewhere around 11 days. But just today I noticed it was a 1720.

How do they know you made a BBB complaint? Can I file a complaint on the BBB's website?

yes, on the website.

I'm in a similar boat with my replacement I've been waiting 16 days and after 3 builds that went into production it looks like I'm looking at another one tomorrow so more delays it will be over a month since my system died before I get a replacement but presistance I believe has paid off as I got a rep to agree to give me the upgrade to the 8800GTX, as I stated to him previous system had GTX and new system should have GTX he agreed to do it so now I'll hold them to it if the new build doesnt come out that way it may take me 2 months but I wont stop til I get what I am supposed to!

wonderful, the BBB complaint form is down.

It gets to the third or forth step and gives me a 404.

So I spoke with the senior support technician! He said he was upgrading my order to an M1730!!!

WOOO!!

It better be SLI, because I use dx9 games and if I end up with ANOTHER system less powerful I will be upset.

WE shall see tomorrow I guess.

CONGRATS! I too am waiting for my 1730 I used to have a m170 so not so much a surprise on my end to be getting it but it's looks like a refurb as it went into production and shipped the same day currently its listed as having 8700gt's in it but I spoke to a rep this morning who agreed to give me the bump to GTX's as my previous m170 has 7800GTX I will make them hold up to that agreement and atleast this way I dont have to get delayed any longer as I heard the 8800's are on backorder

Very true. That's why we tend to tell people not to go BBB immediately. Also I find it insane how many E1705's are dying right now....seems like at least 5-9 people on here have been getting replacements because of the issues
post #31 of 282
Add that to a dying M1710 of mine... lol

Continuous problems with this thing... It's driving me nuts. I'll probably demand a replacement here soon.

Well to be slightly honest here....

The day I got my E1705 I read one tutorial on another site that told me how to flash my 7900GS and I did... with the wrong bios.

SO dell replaced the motherboard and the video card then.

and ONE of the power adapters was replaced because I was wrapping it to tightly on my way to work.

reminds me of launch ps2's... i heard that a lot of people got laser problems pretty much immediately after the manufacturer warranty ended....

although mine still functions to this day... i have a bunch of friends' ps2s laser malfunction after the warranty ended....

maybe a problem with the e1705 line that we are just unaware of

My PS2 enjoys making the red go insane on my screen when I use it as a DVD player not like I really use it anymore though.

And I too see a similarity, it just seems like more than coincidence that all of a sudden a bunch of people run into major E1705 problems...although I guess it seems that along the way there was a problem, seeing that tons of people have about 6-8 warranty needs along the period of warranty.

or maybe everyone in the world realizes they can get a free $4200 laptop with a few phone calls

I hope nobody here is trying to pull that, if its true it is just making legit claims harder.

Generally around here people don't try it, although I'm sure plenty of phony calls go in around the world every day.

My rep just emailed me and told me I would be getting the 8800GTX SLI and an x7900!!!

This computer was only $1460 when I bought it a year ago!

Pushing the DVI issue so much really helped! The question now is when is it going to ship with all the delays in the 8800gtx's
post #38 of 282
dang how is everyone getting x7900's I only got a t7500 the 2.2 whatever its model number is called
post #39 of 282
wow lucky c0ax. So I had my replacement initiated on 1/24 and I'm still waiting for the details on my laptop.

When did you contact them?

btw, what does "Technical Coach" of Dell mean?

Yeah I was approved for the system replacement on 1/24 and the system showed up 2/4.

So yours should be there already...
