Worse than that, they teased me with an XPS, and then gave me another repherb 1705 with the x1400!

What a bunch of morons. My god I wish the damn techs were moved over to America so that at least they understood what was being said. Sometimes it just seems like they are smoking crack promising loads of goodies and then not being allowed to do so.

I wouldn't stand for that either. Just argue how much you paid for complete care and this is what it was sold to you as. I myself am waiting to see what they replace my 1710 w/ as it has just crapped out. I don't understand why dell sells 4yr complete care on laptops that only last about 1 to 1.5 years. I expect to see a change in their policy soon with some many returns lately.

I just woke up and logged into my account, and to my horror the E1705 with a WORSE video card HAS SHIPPED!! You can believe I am about to rein hell down upon Dell.

"You realize of course... This means war...."

Both you and your techs are going to have a VERY fun time.

Would Dell give a credit/refund instead of a replacement? Then you could just configure the system you want.

In some cases yes they can but its much cheaper to get it from them then to get the refund and by your own although it would be much quicker that way.

The issue with that is that they would just put the credit back into my credit account that I bought the computer on, and that doesn't put any money back in my pocket, it basically just gives me store credit with dell.

and I am not going to give dell another dime.

I just received today the replacement 7900GS I bought from eBay and fixed my old E1705 (with MY money) so I think my plan is to get the new one and bitch and moan and complain until something gets done, and if nothing happens and they won't help me, and the BBB doesn't get anything done either, then I am going to sell both E1705's and buy an M1710 with a 7950GTX

I would be VERY VERY happy with an M1710 as long as it had 2gb of ram, a t7600G and the 7950GTX, I only play CSS and Quake III Arena, so anything more is kind of a waste.

Any laptop used to play those games would be a waste, sorry . I think Dell should just give you the M1730 that you were promised already. They tried to pull that with me and I didnt allow it. They said oh yes sir we will replace your laptop and you will get the M1730, then a couple days later when I called to see what I would be getting they said I will get something that is equal or better then what I had and there was no possible way I could get the M1730 as it wasnt an option. I told them I was already told that I would get the M1730 as it is the only model they make that has DVI. They said that was correct and I should receive that. A couple days later a 1720 showed up in production. I called right away and got it taken care of.

I play CSS at 1920 x 1200 and FPS is very very important, the 7900GS does an okay job but doesn't keep up often. I use it at a desktop basically I have a 24" LCD and external keyboard and mouse.

ah I see. I normally play UT, UT3, NFS:PS, COD4. I know how important FPS can be as I play UT and UT3 and if it jitters a little you can miss a headshot or moving combo. I think im gonna use my M1730 as a desktop replacement as well.

It is sad when a large corporation who charges 29% interest standard on their credit accounts cannot keep their word. Also, sadly, they make so much profit in that area...they could easily afford to send you the system they promised you.

Oh well, you fight as best as possible.

I am just wondering why my credits are so stinking low and negative. I rarely have typed on this board and have always been kind and helpful. Should I go to the BBB?

I paid off the credit account the month after buying the computer in full, so I don't know how they can refund me except giving me credit since it was bought with credit.

Ugh...

I am awaiting the supervisors call now, I already know exactly what is going to happen, he is going to tell me "I fixed the problem and ordered you another E1705! aren't I great!!" and that is when I have to point out to him that he replaced it with the WRONG video card AND it has already shipped.

Not to be greedy or anything, but I'd ask for 1730 or refund just for playing with your emotions.

Maybe you can get a Precision M6300 as a replacement. It has DVI and a beefy GPU.

That would probably be the best goal to set for yourself. Probably the best compromise. Plus, the whole "XPS" title makes them really want to throw the idea in the garbage

Just wondering - Which part of 1600M is beefy?
