Hi all, I replaced my e1505/6400 motherboard a few months ago. I was getting an annoying hum when both cores where turned on. So I downloaded Notebook Hardware Control to turn both cores on to check out the noise and well the new motherboard also makes the annoying noise but I think a bit less.
Anyhow I forgot to take a temperature reading before I installed the new motherboard (I know stupid). Well just surfing the net using firefox my cpu temperature goes from the 40c all the way up to the 60c. I don't remember if my old one was that high. I did install a new thermal pad over the cpu (its grey) and a new pad over the MCH (Memory Control Hub)(pad is purple).
Is there anyway to get a temperature reading for the MCH (Memory Control hub) and a reading on how hot my ATI Radeon Video Card is running?
Should I remove the grey thermal compound and use Arctic Silver instead? What are some pro's and con's? I read somewhere that if I used Arctic Silver in a few years I would have to redo it.
Shot is of the old heat sink with grey compound the purple thermal pad:
