Personalization shield from 1710 compatible with 1730?

Thread Starter
I've been thinking about buying another laptop, 1st one comes to mind is 1730 for my gaming needs, I have a soon to be replaced 1710 with a personalization shield, i have some nice covers that I'd like to use, but I'm not sure if it fits on the 1730. Anyone know if that is the case? I assume it is.

Input appreciated. Thanks in advance

Seriously doubt it

Does not fit. I had a M1730 to play with for a couple days and that is one of the things I tried to do. Maybe Dell will come out with something in the next coming weeks.

Some of the used 1730s say "personalization shield". I'm buying one today and sales rep says there is no such thing. I'm confused.

It certainly won't be compatible. The M1730 is larger physically, both length and width wise (the lid) than the M1710 by a good inch and a half or so, so it just won't fit.

i think by personalization shield they mean the "wings" that glow in the back of the lcd. they go from white to red to gray to blue i thnk. each of those being a differernt color of wing.
