8800 gtx slays them all...

I'm not acting rash. I think I had a great computer for a year that I ended up getting my money back for and then got a much faster one. I know Gateway has been a POS for years... but things change. I'm pretty sure the 8800GTS would walk on the 8700 sli. Just my thoughts..

I never said that the 8600m will out perform the 7900gs. I said that if you compare the benches that they would be on par with each other. If it is a stock 7900GS.

An 8800GTS is faster then stock 8700SLI by about 400 points in 3dmark06. http://www.anandtech.com/mobile/showdoc.aspx?i=3155&p=4

Nice. And I would have been lucky to even get an SLI with the XPS.. I really think I did the right thing and not let Dell spoon feed me down the pipe. Just think... no more Indian support.

Well enjoy the FX. It's a great system. Those that are getting/have gotten XPS 1730's will enjoy those too. Especially those that got 8800SLI....cough....McFly

Yeah it looks like you got a pretty nice system and I hope you are happy with your choice. I was however able to get 8770 with a little tweaking. Still want to do some more but not sure if im gonna since I have 8800M GTX SLI on the way =). Are you planning on overclocking ur 8800gts?

I was having trouble when I first got my M1730 and it was playing games slower then my 7900gs did so I was asking my rep about it and at the same time asking him about the 8800M GTX to see if he knew when Dell would release them. He told me that he didnt know and that if they did it would be for the M1730 as its a card that is part of the mobo. So i showed him a link at nvidia that showed that the M1730 was capable of the 8800M GTX SLI and he didnt say anything. the very next day Dell announced the 8800 SLI and I asked him if that was an option now, just meaning if people were able to buy it yet and he just said that another system exchange would not be possible at this time. So I just said oh ok then when would it be as i explained yesterday games do not run as smooth as they did on my old laptop and asked what his suggestion would be to fix the problem. He replied with I will send you the 8800sli as an exchange order for the 8700sli that you have now. So I got REALLY lucky.
