LOL. A month is better than the rest of us who are still on the "never" list. I wrote a pretty long and harsh note to dell customer service today about the BS i've been going through just to get this part acknowledged. hopefully i'll get some kind of response.. otherwise, i'll just return the 1730 and order a new one.. waste of time that that is.

So very true. If I were you I would just return and reorder with 8800SLI and get the new penryn T9300. Better deal if you ask me.

I don't know if I can actually pull that off as I've had it more than 30 days.

In the UK Dell told me the 8800sli part for M1730 will probably be about 400 pounds but its not on the system and they don't know when it will be - 2 of the reps tried to sell me a desktop card instead haha :-)

had that happen as well.. gotta love when reps try to sell you the wrong part.

UK - Same here, trying to sell me a desktop part. Has anyone got any further with this? I've been chasing them for a while myself... I think they're getting bored with me. Certain games eat the 8700's alive... I need the 8800m sli for LAN gaming so that the only person I can blame in the tournament is myself! LOL.

i think there's a severe part shortage at the moment.. we all probably need to wait a while for these things to get in stock. i got an email from dell customer care because i complained saying that the part wasn't currently available and to check back with sales.
i really don't think anyone at dell is very informed.

Shortage must be over, Dell site shows no delay in shipping time for new 1730's with 8800M's. Lets hope things start moving along now.

Hi everybody

I am from Ireland. Engineer came to my house yesterday and replaced SLI 8700M GT with SLI 8800 GTX but laptop recognise it as same old 8700M GT. Anybody knows what to do? Installed 8800GTX drivers from DELL website, nothing.
I took photo of 8800GTX as well.

They gave you another 8700, my rep told me dispatch was doing that for spare parts during the shortage.

What? Cannot believe!!! It's like you pay for Mercedes Benz SL600 but get Fiat Punto ''Sorry pal, we kinda don't have SL600 at the moment''.
I called technical support and DELL sending another engineer on Friday. he better fix it

Thats REALLY poor - replace it with the same 8700!! lol
Amazing what Dell stoops to these days!
