A friend of mine has a notebook he had custom built. It's a pentium M 1.7 and he's wanting to get some more RAM. I went over to his place and ran CPUZ but I stupidly forgot that the machine was not plugged in and was running on dynamic switching, so I wrote down wrong memory specs I think. (PC 2300 133mhz fsb fsb:dram 3:4 - obviously these must be speedstep readings). Can anyone verify what kind of memory he will need if he has a Pentium M 1.7? Or will I need to go back again and run CPUZ with the comp plugged in?

So I went back house and ran CPUZ to figure out what kind of RAM he needs. The laptop was a custom built Pentium M 1.7. Can someone please tell me what kind of RAM is needed as a replacement? I don't understand why the builder would have put PC2300 in the system if it is 3:4 FSB DRAM?? Can someone suggest a module off of newegg?

Looks like you want PC3200 aka 400 MHz. It really doesn't matter as memory prices (for 1 GB modules at least) seems to be the same across various frequencies (333 and 266). Therefore, even the chipset didn't support 400MHz, it would still run at whatever speed the chipset allowed. Chipset support is Intel-based bus protocol.
