Hey, just wondering if anybody is doing the same, I'm DL'ing right now via BitLord

Why would you DL a Service Pack from a torrent source? Just DL it from MS.

Microsoft isn't releasing it to the public on their sites for another month or so

Why would I wait? SP1 is supposed to aid file performance pretty nicely and improve upon the current platform pretty well.

You like it Tony? Any noticeable speed increases anywhere?

Never had a chance to install it before my Vista-fied M1710 died. Once I get my M1730 (who knows how long THAT will take) I'll give it a go. I've got it downloaded and ready though, and a slipstreamed Dell Vista Ultimate SP1 disk ready to go for immediate wipe-and-reinstall.

Are there any hotfixes that must be installed to Vista prior to Sp1?
No idea.

I'm thinking of splitting my current Windows XP partition into two smaller partitions on my desktop. Right now, it's 64GB, and I'm thinking of splitting it into 2 partitions, each 32GB in size. Installing XP Pro SP2 on one, and Vista Home Premium SP1 on the other.

I know a handful of hotfixes were required prior to RC1 install.

Wondering if these are included in the Sp1 final. I would certainly hope so...playing musical 'fixes' bites.

I would guess they will be, generally they try to make processes as easy as possible for computer noobs. But we can only hope.

Either way, so far for me Vista without a SP added on runs alright, it's just that bootup is a little slow for my taste.

Yeah, same here. Only other thing I've had complaints about with Vista is that sometimes copying things I get a "File could not be accessed. Cancel/Retry/Ignore". It only usually happened when I was trying to copy or move several things from one place to another. Second time around it was usually alright, but frustrating, nonetheless.

Tony that is one of the main fix's from what I understand.

Yep, and I haven't noticed the problem since I slipstreamed SP1 and reinstalled. File operations (opening directories, copying/moving files, etc) seem alot more fast and alot more stable in terms of consistency in performance.

I have a feeling I'm just going to wait until SP1 hits public, I don't see any real large personal benefit from having it at the moment.
