I'm going to be getting ASUS G Series G2S-B1 NoteBook and I want to upgrade to 3 gigs of ram. What notebook ram is best for gaming with Vista?

Any 667 Mhz DDR2 SODIMM modules will work fine

RAM to use

I had an extra 1 gig stick of Corsair RAM laying around, so I picked up a matching 2GB stick of the same memory for $50 at Microcenter (I could have probably ordered it online for about $30).

I think it's better to have the same brand ram if you can (rather than mixing brands), but otherwise having any ram that's as fast as what you've got now is better than sticking with just 2GB.

Best regards,
Ransom

i would try and see if you can sell both of your sticks of ram, if you ever upgrade to 64bit, you can take advantage of the full 4gb at a cheap upgrade cost. plus its better to have 2 of the same memory sticks, but its not the end of the world either. haha check out supertalent ram with a samsung chip, they are pretty affordable.

I use kingston as I had a great warranty experience on my old laptop. One dmm died on a Sunday, called, they answered and got me a new stick by the next Wednesday

I'm pumping some G.Skill in my lappy. I originally got a 1GB stick of Corsair value stuff and it died soon after. I just decided to go for the 2GB G.Skill for like $10 more and I'm glad I did. (Sold the Corsair to a friend after I RMA'd it.)

Ok I'm planning on upgrading to Vista Ultimate 64 bit and buying 2 2gig ram sticks from newegg

I'd prolly go with the ones with best reviews but thats the extent of my knowledge..

any of those should work fine. Virtually every memory manufacturer has a lifetime warranty, so there isn't that much of a difference between them, unless you're overclocking or have a finicky motherboard.

I hear my laptop is a pain to upgrade ram cause the second socket is behind the keyboard apparently? I remember seeing a guilde about how to remove the keyboard to access the ram bay but I lost the link! Can someone give me that link plz? Thanks in advance! ;p

I've always wanted to upgrade my os and ram but now I NEED to do it because of recently problems I've been noticing that I suspect is due to bad sectors in the defualt low grade ram that Came with the laptop.

When playing World of Warcraft, anytime I enter a major hub like Shattrath city my screen sometimes blacks out for a moment like its about to crash then recovers, I alt tab and see this message in the lower right hand of my desktop..

Terrible, just terrible.

I suspect the new 2.4 World of Warcraft patch and Vista being a picky bitch about bad sectors in my crap ram has something to do with all of this.

I am also getting graphical errors when I am in shadowform with my Tier 6 Shoulders which I suspect is also due to crap ram since I've kept all drivers, open gl, dx10 all of it updated as possible and the problem still persists!

The edges of my shoulders are transparent when in shadowform! So lame! I hate blizzard so much!

But anyways heres the link on to upgrade ram
