Detailed exploded view of the Laptop would be great to help with cleaning and replacing part once unit is out of warrantee. Even an online PDF would be something. Thanks

I have a lot of peripherals for my games (Logitech MX1000 Laser mouse, MERC Zboard, Logitech G25 Racing Wheel) and I'd like to see more things like that offered by AW, but its a shame that they will probably be more expensive there compared to elsewhere online. Any way AW/Dell could make things cheaper? I purchased X-530 surround sound speakers with my 7700 back in November 2005, and I found out the next week I could have bought them in town for $20 less (25% at that time). I'm just pointing out the fact that offering more peripherals is a great idea, but you have to make prices competitive.

Hi koneill,

Congrats on the new position!

I am heading in the same direction as BFisch06. Can peripherals be made price competitive from Alienware? Have the Alienware name?

For example, I would've paid a few bucks more for the 2407WFPs if they would've had Alienware's name instead of Dell's. But nooo, had to buy 'em from Dell for less with Dell logo emblazoned.

Most devices may be purchased locally with no S&H cost or from an e-tailer such as egg, ZZF etc. with minimum/no S&H and no tax.

Now that is said and done...get to work!!!

Look forward to your input/changes to the good on the Configurators/Gear Shop.

Loves me some Alienware!!!

I would move and Sticky to the appropriate Alienware General Forum...

I would like to see the following:

More cooling options for Notebooks, for example Antec Notebook coolers and a variety more...I currently use the Antec NC1000 Cooler and it works great on my 7700 and 5550i.

The "option" of applying Arctic Silver in the original configurator so Alienware can do this for us.

Have dedicated persons responsible for keeping the "Drivers Section Updated" These persons should be reponsible for the testing of newer drivers and keeping your website updated.

I'll come back with more later...

Thanks for starting this thread!

#1: realistic memory upgrade prices. other vendors like voodoo extreme and sager have memory upgrade prices that are competitive with with the retail memory market. There's absolutely no excuse with today's memory prices to charge +$300 to upgrade from 2gb to 4gb of ram in a system when a 2x2gb set of Corsair costs $99 from Newegg. (2gb is predictably $50. a little math makes this a 350% markup from retail on notebook memory. Unacceptable.) Prices of other upgrades are more inline with the market, so why gouge us on memory?

#2: A few more optical drive options. I like what's there, but giving folks a choice between slot and tray loading for the DVD/RW would be sweet.

#3: Colors: I'm not even saying having a lot of choices in stock, but at any time the choice between two different chassis colors would be great. I'm waiting on the Stealth Black to buy an M15x, but I'd jump at Conspiracy Blue, too Anything but silver.

#4: Store: offer upgrade and wear&tear parts at the store. smartbay devices, keyboards, minipci cards, etc. Support with drivers for these specific devices in the downloads. Offer Dell monitors at the store!

#5: Customer loyalty discounts. have an Alienware and buying a new one? Enter your customer ID and get a small chunk off your new system, or upgrade parts. This was even implied back in 04 when I ordered my first Alienware laptop, but never materialized. A little bit here would go a long way to keep people coming back to the Alien.

#6: If you offer a 3 or 4 year warranty, I expect parts to be in stock and available for whatever that product is. Replacement video card modules for my a51-766/5500 were (And still are) effectively nonexistent.

As other posters said, an accidental damage option would be nice. Barebones systems like those offered by Asus would be a neat option, if unlikely due to brand identity.

Cheaper upgrades for older systems, color options, live online customer service chat like Gateway, instant notification if something is setting back the building process, local outlets, customer loyalty discounts (the more systems the bigger the discount)

Actually there was a user on the NBr forums that temped at the place they made Artic Silver 5.. Between the stock thermal paste and the AS5 - The stock thermal paste outperformed the Artic Silver !!
Will try and dig up the post for ya

haha, you will most probably be right Boyd.

But, that be the main reason why notebooks overheat so easily if they use AS5 on AW notebooks and that other stuff on the AW desktops. Don't know, just a guess...
