This is what you said the label on the notebook PSU from shopbattery said romes:
Brand: HiPower
Model: EA11603
AC Input 100-240Volt - 2.5A - 50-60Hz
Output 18-24V - 160W Max
Typical Output - 19V
First of all, the 2.5A rating is the input or what the PSU may draw max from the Primary Power source under a full load and not the output to the load or notebook. You know, input demand, usually from the wall receptacle (typically 120VAC @ 15 or 20 amps)? I think you are blaming the wrong people. Blame me if you must.
I'm sorry that the PSU from shopbattery didn't work out, or worse apparently smoked the notebook a month or two after using the PSU. Your replacement PSU from shopbattery didn't seem to mate correctly from the git go with the notebook and may have been overheating said you. That variable voltage output rating made me nervous when you replied to my question - just one or two daze after you received the replacement PSU from shopbattery - and complained of the original problems with the PSU. Did the PSU come with more than one output tip?
I don't know why Alienware told you to call shopbattery...I just found the company shopbattery on my own after an exhaustive search for a replacement PSU for you and others. I'm not an Alienware or shopbattery.net employee and don't have any affiliation with either, other than being a happy Alienware desktop owner.
I hate that you had a catostrophic event. Maybe Alienware said to call shopbattery because the PSU shopbattery sold you is what you claim smoked your notebook?
I tried to help...
