Video Problems

[First off sorry moderators, I posted this by mistake in the benchmark area.]

Hello,

While I love love love my 5680, recently I think something has gone awry. The video will go blank as if it went into standby or something WHILE I am typing away. It has just started doing this, the last change I made was going to the 7.97 ATI drivers to fix a lot of multitasking issues I was having. The old drivers that shipped with the laptop would crash the laptop if I dropped from a game to the desktop to do something for a moment. The new drivers do not do this and they work fine. However the video issue is getting real frustrating.

The only way I get video again is to hit ctrl+alt+del over and over and eventually I get the task mgr, and unfort. the video will go out again!!! Then all I can do is shut it off the hard way and reboot.

Could this be heat related????

I have opened a ticket with SAGER and I have to say I'm kind of peeved that you can't call them and speak with a tech, I'm sick of this call back method of support. Request a call back, and like a day or two later they call you, then you aren't there to get the call and then you wait again!

To try and troubleshoot the issue I set the laptop to never go into suspend mode or sleep mode while the ac adapter is plugged in. It still happens.

Anybody else have these kind of issues? Man I hope I don't have to send this thing in.

I can't believe a single person didn't reply to this.

Any how, I had to ship the laptop back to SAGER twice to get it fixed and each time was a week to 2 weeks of phone tag, if anyone ever dealt with them its constant back and forth calls since you can't just call into support and talk to someone. The first time they replaced an inverter (whatever that is.) and the second time they replaced the motherboard.

Finally got my laptop back 2 weeks ago and I can finally enjoy it. I bought it in Feb!

I've had 4 RMA´s on mine, the laptop was replaced every time... The errors was all related LCD quality and NIC problems... My current one works fine... I suspect they (Clevo = the producer) must have had a quality-problem with a shipment of components, at least I hope that's the reason... RMA'ing 4 times wasn't cheap... Had to drive 50km's each way every time and get time-off from work...
