m6300 update?

As far as I can see it the only option with the possibility of docking and decent graphics performance are the m90/m6300 (regardless of manufacture). Has anyone heard news of a 8800 equivalent card for the m6300? I am duo to replace my m90 and believe the docking to be very convenient. Why doesn't the 5793 or m15x come with a docking option!?

the fx3600 aka 8800m with opengl optomizations .... is on the horizon.

As far as I know, the FX2600M hasn't even come out yet.

in the supported drivers of the 171 drivers from nvidia there is fx3600 go in the list. dunno if that makes any diff.

but i will prob get a m6300 if they come out with the fx26 or fx36

Definitely
aye, i wonder that too... if the m6300 looks like an m90 which is a reskinned m1710, will the m6300s FX3600m fit in my m1710?
It could if the indentations in the heatsink line up. That is beside the point though. The BIOS will not support the card.
sigh... the A07 bios wont support the 3600M.... nuts
post #9 of 31
Then how come the BIOS on the E1705 supports the Quadro [1|2|3]500M?

We'll see. When they come out, I really hope someone'll be willing to test the card on the E1705/M90/M1710.

What? Yes, the E1705 BIOS supported all the cards released in its active period. Just like the XPS2 and just like the XPS1. Dell's done with the E1705. It does not support anything but 7900GS, 7900GTX, 7950 GTX, Quadro 1500m, 2500m, and 3500m (and some lower series ATI's and Nvidia's). There's no hope from Dell and that's for sure. Now if you can find a bios hacker then all that can be thrown aside. Even with that said, Dell will prevent the upgrade in software (BIOS) and most likely hardware (indentations in heatsink). The heatsink problem is not that hard to fix but its still a possibility of Dell's counter measurements.

Thanks for the link. Now...hopefully Dell is one of the first to get this so we can order as soon as possible.

"...The CUDA-capable chip is designed to be mounted on a standard mobile graphics board, and the stock configuration sports 512MB of RAM, power-management features, and a 256-bit memory interface that opens up 51.2GB/s of graphic memory bandwidth..."

comparing one apple: it's 51.2GB/s over the 34.8GB/s @ default clocks on my FX3500 (44.8 with safe overclock)

You can bet on it. They only named an HP laptop in the article, but Dell will probably not be far behind, if at all. In any case, I would have to be absolutely desperate before I would "treat" myself to an HP laptop. Man, I just installed this new HP printer, and the printer itself is really nice, but their software sucks dead bunnies through a straw. Plus, I recommend you rather shoot yourself than attempt to use their "tech support". All those of you who complain about Dell's support, try HP for a change, and you will absolutely, positively love Dell, promise.

Somebody with an E1705 and a M6300 (with this card) wanna try it?

FX3600M + e1705 / m1710 / m90 = (in other words, soooo happy we can barely control our quasi-outdated yet still kickass enthusiasm)
The same enthusiasm people had about putting a 7900GTX in a XPS2...

Not even the original M6300 Bios supports the card. I'll be just happy with buying this laptop and feeling the nostalgia of the XPS2. Oh, and the 3 button touchpad, powerful GPU and updated CPU's are a plus.

as soon as my m1710 sells... I am getting a Clevo d901c. bam!
