m6300 update? - Page 2

lets write a petition to dell to make new bios 08 for M1710
or they could just make single 8800gtx for xps
post #22 of 31
you know they could do that easily if they wanted too.

but unfortunently fricken laptops have to be sold.

so if they did do it hell we wouldn't really need the m1730.

realisticly the t7600 is plenty for a year atleast. gaming wize.... my friend has a 2 year old P-D dual core first model and it is still awesome for gaming.

we just need graphics updates...

By the way, has anybody noticed that in the blurb describing the 6300, they say that it can be configured with up to 8GB of RAM? Now that would be interesting; I might actually switch to 64-bit Vista if that were true. Unfortunately, right now you can't order them with 8 gigs. Plus, I wonder how you would get there. I believe the machine has two RAM slots only, so you would need to get two 4-gig modules. Do those even exist yet?

hmm. that's some weird shit

I don't think there are single dimm 4 GB modules yet. Probably by the end of this year or so.

All those of you who complain about Dell's support, try HP for a change, and you will absolutely, positively love Dell, promise.
I second this, the printers are darned good machines...which is more than I can say for the crap the CD makes you install along with the driver.

And you're right about HP Tech support. They don't understand what a S.M.A.R.T Failure is NOR do they know what a Linux Live CD is. I've yet to encounter a Dell phone technician that doesn't understand either of those.

When does the M6300 get updated to Penryn?

Hi all,
I hope to get the M6300 with the 3600M (ooh, almost a palindrome)
after the Penryn T8/9xxx CPU's show up. Anyone have any guesses as
to when that'll happen?

Thanks,
Widefoot

Never mind, Dell's answered my question. The config I want will
run about $4K, time to start saving my pennies...

They have indeed been updated. The config I want would run $2847. The 3600M would be quite an upgrade to the 1400go in my M70. I have to start saving too..

Hi Guys,

I am very interested in having 8GB in a new M6300. Can anyone confirm that this option is now really available. It says so in some places but I am not sure. Yesterday the option was available on the US configuration page, today it is gone again. Can they actually now ship 2x 4GB modules, or not?

Cheers
Julian.

The price is insane from Dell. I would wait until later as memory is easily upgradeable.
