Just ordered M1730 with 8800Sli, 4gb, 320 Raid 0, backpack, usb keyboard and mouse, 2.4 core duo, 4 years xps warranty- £1999 gbp all inc

Haggled quite a bit with sales of course :-)

What do you think - did I haggle enough? What did you pay for yours?

It should be here in about 2 weeks apparently yipee

In USD?

no its British Pounds = 4K USD

that same system would be about the same price here in Canada
so considering it's the UK with Vat added I think you did OK.

Congrats

thanks dave, i was tempted to wait for the penryn models but there is no date for them so I thought I may as well go for it - I'm not sure the performance increase would be that great for gaming anyway. and I should get most of the vat back as its mostly for work use :-)

well with any luck, you can drop the new processor into the M1730 when it does come out down the road if you feel so inclined.

... You won't even fit a single 8700GT if that budget of 1500-1600 is in USD.

Thanks for all the replies guys, the M1730 with 8700sli i bought in november cost 1949 uk pounds so prices have def dropped cos I'm paying just 50 pounds more for the same system but with the 8800sli, if the penryn comes out in the next week or so I will cancel and re-order :-)

Good way to reduce the price may be to opt for the 1 year warranty cos you can always call them later and they will do a deal on extended warranty - they ask questions similar to "how much do you want to pay for it?" I always say 1 pound or close to it :-)

Penryn is already released in the US so it shouldnt be too far off for you guys. Good tip on the warranty, I need to extend my warranty so ill see what I can do when I call in a couple weeks.
