I have a cracked bottom case on my M9700. Does anyone know if it is easy to replace?? I found a replacment that is currently being shipped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the bottom is prolly the worst part to crack, you have to take everything out. The motherboard attaches to it...along with everything attached to it.

I have not seen any pictures of a torn apart m9700, but I'm sure it's not hard. Just have to document your steps. You should take a lot of pictures, have a lot of plastic baggies for parts and a sheet of paper to keep track of your steps.

ouch... u would have to take the enitre computer apart to replace it... motherboard etc...i would almost say not to worry about it and try something to seal the crack... if its not damaging the hard drives or anything else it might be better not to replace it if its over ur head...

The crack does not interfere with the operations of the unit, But after shelling out that kind of $$$ on a laptop it looks awful. I have been shopping around and the cheapest is AlienWare at $259.00 including shipping. So I just might go that route. If you have any ideas or places I might look at. Like I said earlier I already have the case. Now, I just need to find someone to do the work without voiding the warranty. Thanks RC
