I tried all weekend to be satisfied with the 1730. I tried 3 different drivers, and the simple fact is the graphics card is slower than my 1710. I am seriously thinking about returning the 1730, and buying a new motherboard from ebay. I don't understand why they didn't just repair the 1710 in the first place.
The upgrades they gave me.
2.0 Core2Duo to 2.2
80GB HDD to 120
2GB of ram to 4 GB
I offered the guy to take back all the upgrades if they would just match the card. I am almost too exhausted with Dell to continue further. At least I have documentation from the rep stating the 8700 is not equivalent to the 8800. That is the only reason why I am still fighting this.
Dell escalations was terrible. The rep would only communicate via e-mail, and it would take him three days to respond. He just stated that the 1730 is an upgrade to what I had... case closed.
I feel so burned by Dell right now. I can't believe they would tell me that they agreed and would replace my cards, then turn around and say the card is 2000 dollars, and my card is 1000, the 8700 is 1000 therefore the 8700 is equal. If that is the way they are going to play it the warranty needs to clearly state dollar value not performance.
I am getting a clevo d901c or a m1730 when it sells anyways.
