Hi everyone, I accidently shorted the power supply while installing a new hard drive
, ended up having to buy a new drive
. Anyway, will chuck that up to experience...
the power supply still works so I installed another new hard drive, installed windows and all the programs required. The computer worked fine for a couple days then the hard drive started failing, when I carried it back they said it was mechanical failure.
The drive didn't stop working completely, it's just that certain sectors coudn't be accessed so initially to all appearances the drive appeared to be functioning properly until you tried to access certain sectors. Could this failure have been caused by the short that had happened previously or was it that i had gotten a faulty drive?
Do I need to change the power supply as well or was it a coincidence that this new hard drive failed? or could the motherboard have been damaged and could this have damaged the drive? Help please

was worried that something was causing the hard disk to spoil.
