Hi, does anyone know if the M1730 will be available with the X9000 processor anytime soon?

Many thanks

Extremetech currently has a review of an XPS M1730 with an X9000 Penryn processor and 8800M GTX SLI graphics. They state that Dell says the upgrade to the X9000 is "imminent," which they interpret as being as early as February 21.

My question is whether Dell will still be offering the $599 Instant Savings on the XPS 1730 with the Extreme Edition processor once they upgrade it to Penryn, and if not, whether its worth losing out on a $599 discount to get the new chip. Anyone have any opinions?

I think the reason the discount is there is to get people to buy there stock of X7900 CPUs . You can take a shot at buying the system now and then while in production call up customer care and have them send you that part instead. If they tell you that you have to reorder the system demand the discount or cancel the order.

i have been trying to find out this also.

this link says that they will be adding it but nothing more specific.

I was also wondering the same thing as Lexamissa. Because i would like to get the $600 discount when i order my system. But like yoob said its prob just to get rid of the old stock. Who knows maybe they will keep the discount through Feb. so when they switch we can still get it.

oh and thanks for the link Lexamissa
