The Witcher : Video problem?

Just picked up The Witcher today and got into playing. The only problem I have right now is taht I keep getting windows errors in the middle of playing making the game shut down and I lose some saved data (which sucks) one time it reported a video hardware malfunction. Also, this exclusively happens with this game, no other. Thanks.

Did you reseach the problem on the game support page?

you running it with vista? make sure you have it patched to v1.2

Yep, make sure you run the 1.2 patch. Also, there are some Microsoft "hotfixes" that need to be applied as well. Google the The Witcher forums / Technial section for more info.

I had some problems initially with the game, but did the patch and the hotfixes, and I've now played for hours with no issues. Note that I'm using Vista 64-bit, 4GB of RAM and an 8800 GTX (haven't had the need to turn on SLI for it).

Another thing to try is playing it in a Window ... this seems to work for lots of people. I really like this game. Finished Act II this past weekend.

Good to hear. I did indeed patch it 1.2 immediately and it's actually sorta odd, over time the issue is just sorta spreading itself out between occurrences. It started where every maybe 3 loads it would crash and now it is barely ever.

Also I must say that the game is optimized well. It runs really smooth on my system with everything turned up. Even got AA and AF maxed. I'm also really enjoying the game, just played through Act I the past couple days and am getting into Act II, the only thing I find funny/odd is the part where with almost every woman is the option to "fool around"

I started playing this game last week. First RPG I've played in a while that I actually like. Very complex gameplay with all of the 'stuff' you accumulate, trying to remember who gets what.

The Witcher Wiki is a great source of information for those that are interested.
