Are you planning on running Linux on this?

If not your post is in the wrong section, and you would have better luck in either one of the Notebook General topics, the Sony General topic, or the Alienware General topic. I will move it there shortly unless I hear otherwise.

You should also try to avoid posting the same post in two seperate, and both incorrect, topics. A single decently placed post will work much better.

Seablade

EDIT: Thread moved.

Depends on what you want to do the most as to what machine you should get. Will you be gaming, multimedia, etc.

seablade are you kidding? This suppose the be the right thread.

BTW I would suggest go for Alienware, since i heard alot goodness about thier builds, Sony is good as just like Apple Macbook. The only downside is that i dont like brand vs price.

I did love my Vaio PCG-F650 !

But I would choose an Alienware any day over another Sony.

As for reliability...I've had my m9700 running 24/7 since I bought the damn thing almost 2 years ago, I'd say thats pretty reliable. Plus, it plays Crisys!

I've had my m5500 for almost two years, and have never had a problem with it's performance, even after I screwed up and wiped the hard drive.

If you customize the Sony to the max you still come out with a machine that is not even close to what the M15X will give you. And you are paying just about the same price. The 17 inch screen should not even make a difference.

You should wait until AW M17X is released, that one will be hard to beat whether you are looking at it as a gamer or portable workstation. That is if you are looking at the larger screen.

Plus one of the big things is the malware that is choking that Sony, you wont get it with AW.

Depends on what you want to do with it. As far as gaming, the Alienware should edge out a similarly spec'd Sony. As far as didtal studio or business, and what not, you probably won't go wrong with either.

BTW, why is this in the gallery section?
