Asustek to Outsource Half of Motherboard Production

The split of Asustek that happened early this year is still generating results and one of them is the outsourcing of own brand motherboard production. According to the latest reports Asustek will have some 50% of boards with its name on it made by companies other than Unihan Technology by the end of the year.

Asus' plan is to first outsource non-notebook motherboard production.

Looks like PC mainboards initially then notebook mainboards.

This may be the first of a series of steps to regain consumer confidence. It could blow up in their face if quality-monitoring measures fail.
