Toshiba U300 partition?

Hi,

This is my first time using Windows Vista and so far not very impressed. Toshiba now apparently ships their laptops without any program CD/DVD except for a recovery disc which users have to make themselves.

After what seemed like forever, my new U300 was finally ready for use. My question is regarding a 5-6GB partition the setup program created. What's the use of this small partition and can I safely repartition the computer to a single 250GB? If so, how do I do it?

Many thanks!

I believe thats the recovery partition. You could do a clean re-install using your recovery disc and then delete the small partition and it will create one large partition.

Thanks, I haven't gotten around to making the recovery disc yet. Would it then essentially act as the Toshiba Windows Vista DVD seeing how no DVD was shipped with the laptop?

Exactly, it would contain the operating system along with all the drivers and will put your laptop back into the configuration of when you took it out of the box

Thanks, I will get on it once I figure out if I'll keep it or not.
