V3000 won't boot!!

Hello all! I have a couple year old V3000 notebook.

I turned it on this morning, and nothing happened. The LED's come on just fine, but no video signal. I am having a hard time narrowing down the problem. The battery and the AC adaptor test fine, the motherboard is getting power and will start up but with nothing on the LCD, I have taken the whole computer apart down to the motherboard, and rebuilt everything properly and checked all wires and connections. I have tested another piece of ram, I don't know what else to do!

Is there a way to force the computer to boot using the external display? I have an external display hooked up but I am thinking maybe it won't use it unless I get in windows and enable it, and I can't see anything to try that!

Thanks for the help!

So if I have an external monitor hooked up, no matter what when I turn the computer on I should see something on the monitor? I don't have to enable it in the BIOS or anything?

Well then I guess the motherboard is bad because it will not boot at all. Darn!

unplug the lid switch before going and buying a new board. if that does not fix it, then you can have your board repaired. it needs the northbridge re-flowed. I have done this repair many times, it works every time!

Me too a component level notebook technician, l had tried many of them by reflowing the northbridge, but it normally lasts only a few weeks, same problem will be back after that. HP has admitted that there is a hardware problem on the design and come up with the new bios version F.39, but unfortunately, some of the V3000 no display problem can be solved by reflashing the bios, but many of them remained with the same old problem although the northbridge is reflowed and the bios is refleshed, so far I have no further solution for this problem, may be your already have It? You obviously do not have the process of re-flowing or re-balling of a BGA chip down correctly because I have repaired hundreds of these models without an issue.

How is the BIOS update going to correct a hardware issue?

I have been doing BGA reworking for years, I dismantle the northbridge, reballing and reflow it back, some of them work fine but some of them will back to me with the same issue after few weeks, I am very sure that it is not a reworking issue, the reworking is done properly, I tried also to reflow those have been reworked before, but some of them will still back to me after few weeks, I am really do not know what is going on, by the way, I am reffering to the AMD version instead of Intel.
You can follow the link below to understand the advise from HP regarding the bios, something with the bios, it will definately causes the motherboard to have no display.

By the way, have you ever encountered Fujitsu S6120 shut down and sometime can not power on issue? this is another common fault that I have not yet figured out, may be you can help.

if your not removing them and reballing them and then putting back on the board properly, it will fail. Maybe you have bad luck then, I dont know. But I dont have issues with them coming back
