I have no idea what a LED vs LCD screen is supposed to look like so i want to make sure that I received the LED screen as ordered. I am running vista ultimate. Thanks in advance.

the easiest way would be to check the camera. the LED screen is thinner and can't support a 2.0 megapixel camera, so it should only have a ~300 kilopixel camera

It's not a limitation of Vista, it's a limitation of 32-bit OS'es. Any 32-bit OS will have the same problem of your computer seeing only 2.75GB to 3.5GB of the 4GB that you have installed. Vista is actually GOOD in this area, as it has a mainstream 64-bit version of the OS (It will be called Vista x64 or Vista 64-bit, in Home Premium or Ultimate Edition flavors).

Having said that, Vista still sucks.

all five versions of Vista have 64-bit versions as well, not just Home Premimum and Ultimate. I've been running 64-bit on my desktop since the retail release.

but yes, its a 32-bit architecture limitation, has nothing to do with the OS. just never has been really a problem because few people had run enough memory to hit the architecture limit before.

With the programs we using requiring higher and higher memory requirements, I would not be terribly surprised if within the next 24-36 months, the 64-bit architecture becomes the mass standard. Laptops such as the m6300 are now capable of handling up to 8GB RAM, a sign that there is a movement towards a 64-bit architecture being mainstreamed. As for the 3.25 / 3.5GB Problem, if my memory serves me correctly, it is because of a PAE extension problem of some sort that has crippled the 32-bit architecture up to and including the Windows 6 (Vista) platform, and up to now it's only been a problem for a very few.

As for the LED or LCD, if you have a 2MP internal camera, LCD, if it's only VGA, then it's LED. Either way, enjoy the machine (Unless you paid extra for LED and only got LCD, in which case, complain!)

if you have annoying bright white dots on the screen, it's the LED LCD.

You also have to look at the memory thing in getting the max you can. You are still doing better with the 4GB than you would with less =)

3.56 is a lot of ram to play with....
