M9700 32bit vs 64bit OS

Thread Starter
Hi, I'm wondering if there is any advantage running 64bit XP instead of 32bit on the AMD Turion 64 ML44 processor, is it faster? is worth reformatting?

Are 64bit drivers easy to find for XP? If anybody has been through this process,
your insight would be much appreciated.

None whatsoever. The main reason to go to a 64 bit OS is to use 4GB or more of memory but the M9700 cant do that. You don't gain anything by running a 32bit app in a 64 bit OS and 99% of everything out there is still 32bit.

Getting a 64 bit OS, you would need atleast a duo core processor.
So running a 64 bit may be slow for your processor.
There's really no reason to upgrade to a 64 Bit OS.

The turion does handle 64 bit, but I'm not sure you'll be able to find drivers for all the components for the 64 bit OS. I'm not sure there's a sound driver for 64 bit.

Last time someone asked about this, I think he couldn't find a sound driver, and maybe bluetooth, but he solved the sound issue by buying a soundblaster xtreme audio notebook.
