Connecting XPS1530 to TV.

Is there a reason why I'm having so much trouble getting my laptop to work when I'm connecting the xps1530 to a HDTV? I had no problems whatsoever when I connected my old laptop Inspiron 1705 to the tv. The major difference was I used a HDMI-DVI cable for the inspiron and I'm using a HDMI-HDMI cable for the xps1530.

The problem I am getting is I am not receiving any sound from my TV when using the hdmi cable and I'm also using the RCA audio.

Have you tried without the audio cable? HDMI transmits both sound and video, though I don't know for certain weather or not Dell has been thoughtful enough to include the digital audio on the HDMI stream as well.

I haven't tested outputting HDMI from my 1530 to my TV yet, but I've noticed if you go to the sounds control panel there is an HDMI output device there. You will probably need to select that as the default device if you want sounds to play via HDMI.
