Replacing an OEM HDD

Thread Starter
My hard drive (in my sig) is dying. Click of death, etc. It (HDD), my motherboard, and my processor are all from an Acer build. I replaced everything else.
My question is, am I going to have to use a new copy of Windows when I replace it? I know the OEM version won't work with a different motherboard but I'm not sure about the hard drive.
Thanks

You should be okay with just replacing the HD, assuming you have the original OS disk that came with your system.

If you have any problems validating the install, you can always call Microsoft to get it authorized.

as long as its the same mobo you wont have a problem using the acer version of windows

that being said, very very very illegal

here is the legit legal way

buy a new copy of windows xp to have a new COA for a new build since you have changed everything

your choice :P
