x1200 chipset and gaming

hello everyone, I recently purchaced the toshiba satellite A215-S7462. I have installed and tried to play call of duty 4 on it with no success. The game loads and even on the lowest settings I get 6 fps. I am aware that this game is a real strech for this chipset. But I do have times where, for about 6-10 seconds, it runs smooth in the 40 fps range. I can't explain this. Are there any settings in the laptop that I can change to get better performance? Maybe overclocking or something? Why would it run good for short bursts and then drop back down? thanks in advance

We need more specs about your system so that someone around here is able to help you better.

Operating System, RAM, processor, etc.
