HELP.

i uninstalled acer empowering technology with the intention of reinstalling it afterwards. it had been laggy and closed spontaneously for a while, so i was going to download it again from acer support.
i got rid of all the components, went to the website, and downloaded it.
after installation completed it said something about WMIAcercheck.exe not working.
i tried to boot it up, and it said exception message:
and then it said sorry! not an acer system.

however, my computer is clearly an acer system.
btw, it's an acer aspire 5100.

PLEASE HELP.
i neeeed acer empowering tech to hook up to the internet, it's extremely slow to do it another way.

What OS are you using?
I have Vista and it connects before I'm even ready to go on the internet it's that quick (and thats with a 30 second start up to)
Assuming you are using Vista make sure the WLAN autoconfig service is set to automatic.

i'm using vista.
whenever i go to the network and sharing center, my computer basically freezes.

how do i change my wlan autoconfig service?

Press start, type in services, go throught UAC prompts, the services list is in alphabetical order. When you scroll down to WLAN autoconfig double click on it, change start up type to Automatic.
Rather then using Network and sharing center try using the connect or disconnect option by clicking the network icon on your taskbar, search for your router, then follow the steps and all being well you should be able to connect and away you go

i did all that, restarted the computer.
and it still didn't auto connect.

when i click the network icon on my taskbar nothing comes out.
right click, nothing comes up.

unless there's anything else i can do, i've resigned myself to doing a system restore to fix this crappy computer.

if i'm doing a system restore, how do i save my files, besides using an external hard drive?
