I was here once before with a problem with my drivers and of course you guys saved me.........well here i am again. I was playing a game on my alienware m9700 when all of a sudden it turned green and pixley so i windowed out only to find my desktop went nuts as well. I have provided a picture via the attachment in hopes some one has an idea of what is goin on with this. I have already looked at the connection to the mother board and it is fine any ideas?

Never mind for some reson ms paint well not save it as a jpeg file. all most all of the black pixels on my desktop are green there are still some black but not to many.

Well my first thoughts are corrupt graphics card drivers, or damage to the cards themselves. Are you running SLI? When is the last time you cleaned out the computer? Have the fans been running more than normal?

Yes, I am running sli. I tried running with a single card but no change. I cleaned out my lap top as soon as this problem showed up. I also looked at the fans they seem to be running fine although one of them seems like the blade tips have been slightly warped due to heat. It is not all the black that is now green the slide bar on the side of this browser is still black as is the close minimize options at the top left and right corner so im kind of at a loss here.....I have read as much as i could find on the net and of course after not finding the answers i wanted i came back here as this site always has what i need.

P.S your the same one who solved my last problem thank you again!

O, and I forgot to mention I also tried hooking up another monitor to it and my tv all of them worked fine (no green) to rule out the graphics cards as the problem. There we go i got the screen shot up now. It looks kinda neat but it also looks like this in games and is rather annoying.

Well if its fine on another screen, I'd say your video cable between the video cards and your screen is loose. Call tech support and they'll walk you through how to reseat the cable. I've done this several times on my 7700 and its not a problem with TS on the phone. Good luck, and let me know if this fixes the issue.

Last night i opend it up and disconnected the screen and reconnected it (at the motherbord) just to see if that may have been the issue but it wasnt. Does that cable feed strait into the screen or is there another connection at the monitor itself? I bought this off ebay about a year ago and dont have any info on the old owner so support well not talk to me.

I have no idea personally. I've never had to take mine apart any further than that. If I think of something else I'll post it, but right now I'm kinda at a loss.

Ok, so i pulled it apart again at a friends house pulled out the graphics cards and found a lil black spot on one....Lucky for me he has 2 broken ones just like mine laying around so a scored a new card for 50 bucks. Odd though it worked on other monitors but after a new card the normal monitor works fine again.

P.S. I also used the guild on arctic silvering aurora m9700 and WOW i have never seen it run so cool ever!

Glad to hear you got everything sorted out. Now monitor those temps and clean it out at least once a month with compressed air.
