do you accept any more input? do you have a goal you are trying to reach?

id ask what your needs are for this laptop

Asus makes some sturdy laptops and ease of use keyboards

one of the asus models has a wsxga screen, the other wxga, so the question would be, do you need a lot of real estate like for webpages or such or long text of code or wutever

as you can tell already with the Sony specs.... they are basically Apple's of PC's... pretty over priced, but got's a name.

I'd hit up the cheaper Asus for the nice v-card. Ditch the Vista Ultimate because it's the # 1 memory hog of all the OS's. Try Vista Home, or Vista Business. XP will always be dominant, hands down!

I'd disagree. They have one of the best LCD technology in the biz.

First off, a laptop LCD screen is not the most important component because LCD screens are already up to par on most machines. Compare every LCD screen and tell me the most obvious difference! Most all of the large manfu. sport the new tech.

Sony's CPU speed is infamously slower than most others, while their VGA are usually integrated. What are you paying for then? Their LCD?

Another down fall would be their vested interests geared towards their self preservation. What am I talking about? Sony laptops only comes with Memory Stick slots... no SD, mini-SD, CF, etc support. Just like how HP has all these stupid sockets for their HP add-on products. Worthless!

Hope Destined_to_Kill is actually learning something here.

I never said it was the most important. And considering I review about 1 laptop a month, and have personally owned a Sony S-Series with Xbrite technology, i'd say I'm in pretty good position to argue that their LCD screen is among the brightest and sharpest I've ever seen.

I'm not saying you should buy a Sony for the screen. I'm saying it's the most impressive feature on the Sony notebook and was arguing your statement about them being overpriced. IMO they have the best LCD screen on any notebook period. because of this, people wanting to pay the extra money for the best screen in the industry, get what they pay for.

What you gota realize is that you are sitting only 18 inches away from you screen. Now there's no point in being all that picky about it, unless you had a CRT instead attached to your laptop being 18 inches away. Reality, even the older 2004 screens are decent enough to use and not cause corollary abrasions to your eyes.

I never said buying a screen other than XBRITE would damage your eyes. I'm simply saying its the sharpest and brightest screen on the market.

agreed:
Sony XBRITE screens are often praised as some of the best

however, I've owned a Sony also and in my opinion, they put their money in the wrong areas. They're typically very underpowered at their price point and they don't have a great reliability record. Mine died completely within 2 years and proved to be comparatively fragile.

bottom line: know what your priorities are before you buy and determine which notebook best meets them.

my brother has a Sony, single core P-M, few other goodies, i never saw the screen as somthing speical, hell if you asked which laptop i owned had the best screen i cannot say, because i just look at the thing, and leave it at that, not like melt because its so pretty

i think this Fujitsu is the brightest ive owned thus far tho, of the 8 ive owned
