I6000 Hard Drive Issue?

Thread Starter
I have a I6000 here that has been giving me a blue screen at bootup with an error (C0000218). After reading around online, seems this error could mean a few things (Hard drive failing, registry is jacked up: might fix with XP recovery, or another piece of hardware is not compatible: doubt it is this since nothing has changed).

So I figured before I go any further, i'd try to pull the hard drive and hook it up to an external case. This way I could pull off a few documents.

When I hook up the hard drive, it sounds like it spins up, shuts down, spins up, shuts down, etc. I know the external case is good because I use it daily.

In your opinion, is the HD going bad? Or should I try to wipe it clean and reinstall the OS?

Did you try asking on ClubGP? :-P

(Above was inside joke - this is Chew from ClubGP)

You should run a Chkdsk and see if and how many bad sectors get marked on it. But from what you are saying - I would say your diagnosis is spot on. Time for a new drive!
