If your budget is $300 or less, take a look at the Samsung 22" 226bw. I think it's just under $300 now, has a super-fast response time (2ms) and good contrast ratio (if I remember right, 3000:1).

There were problems with the initial version of this monitor...but all have been resolved.

Oh, you can buy it for under $300 at a retail store.

I purchased one for my wife at our local Microcenter for $279. Their in-store prices are usually better than their online prices.

Do you have a retail computer store in your area where you can actually go and look at monitors?

The 2007wfp is a great monitor, I own it myself and could've gone the cheaper route (e207) but I felt that I'd very likely get a better quality screen by spending just a bit extra.

I find that it's a very sharp looking screen and the resolution is basically ideal for me since it doesn't really rape the GPU by cranking it up to 1920x1200. If I were in your shoes, I'd go down the same path as I did before.

Balderdash. The Intel 900 might have issue with 1900x1200 in 3D mode. But 1900x1200 in 2d mode is nothing these days. Now back in the 90's when your video card rendered only 2D and you had to buy a 3D Accelerator for any games that may have been true. But these days even the most basic IGP can handle high desktop resolutions as long as they don't need dual link DVI. 1900x1200 is just at the end of what single link can handle.
