Previously showcased here and there Asus' dual-socket Z7S WS workstation motherboard has finally been officially introduced. The Z7S WS features support for LGA771 processors like the dual-core Xeon 5100/5200 and 5300/5400 quad-core processors, fully buffered DDR2 800MHz dual-channel memory and it also boasts two PCI-Express x16 2.0 slots which enable CrossFire support.

Unlike Intel's Skulltrail board, the Z7S WS doesn't feature Nvidia's "SLI enabling" chips so multi-GPU configurations are limited to the AMD offer. Coming in a CEB form factor (12” x 10.5”), the new motherboard also has six SATA 3.0 GBps ports and two Gigabit Ethernet adapters plus one PCI-X slot.

Although it's not yet priced Asus' Z7S WS will probably cost less than Intel's Skulltrail offer. Of course, with Asus' board you won't get SLI but there's more to it than gaming. Right?
