[HELP ME] My laptop spontaneously stopped working- HP Pavilion ze4400

Yesterday I was fooling around when it suddenly shut down. I supposed that it overheated, so I unplugged it and waited.
And it still doesn't work.
I press the power button and not even one tiny light goes on. I thought it could be broken, so I pressed the browser button that is supposed to boot up the laptop and open Firefox. Nothing.
At times I thought that I could smell something burned out, but I believe it was my imagination.
When I plug the AC to the socket, a small green light tells me that its working. BUT, when I plug the other end to the laptop, the light starts to blink dimly, as if it didn't get enough current.
Or what the fusck is wrong with it?
I doesn't run with neither the battery nor the AC.
It's an HP Pavilion ze4400.

edit: it's weird, now it does recognize the AC current, and now when i try to boot it up, for a second it turns on and then off again!

a possible loose/defective power jack or a bad ac adapter

It was dust. The dust blocked the fans and it prevented the laptop from starting.
I have cleaned it and now it works fine.

How do you clean out the fan?  Do you take it apart?  Mine did and is doing the exact same thing.  Worked the night before and then nothing.  AC cord has light but computer will not turn on at all.  no light or power?  Thanks.

It is always advisable that you take the heat sink away from the CPU/GPU, clean out the dust and applying new thermal paste if you have done so in a year or more

cheers ...

Very good point. If the dust was caked on to the fans, it's time to change the thermal paste and re-seat your possessor - at the least clean it. Better to be proactive then have it burn out.
