The New NBF Benchmark System - Page 3

while that may have been archalien's point, I thought posting moderate opinions was still okay around here. Maybe not- it is Off-Topic.
I guess I didn't interpret archalien's post as moderate, thus my moderately sarcastic reply (hey, it's been a long week). My read was, any of us who use benchmarks should go buy some magic beans cause we ain't as 133t as the Hard ones.

yeah, that's what I got too. I was saying that I thought my post (and nyako's for that matter) was moderate when compared to archalien's

my apologies if my sense of humor didn't come across well

*is relieved now, had edited his reply to that several times because it was hard to tell whether shazza was being sarcastic or not so didnt want to come across as trying to be offensive to shazza, just to [H]*

Team Flaccid doesn't seem to be ones to stand around comparing themselves to each other in the first place...

*smile* ... that's because I generally keep my sarcastic, cynical side in check - but good ol' arch always seems to bring out my true self. I just don't like it when people rain on the parade ... Shaun and team are trying to do something positive with the benchmarks. And, since I seem to buy 1 or 2 notebooks a year, I know that benchmarks do give us an indication of performance, if not an absolute

All I did was echo the opinion of one of the highest (if not The highest) reputation hardcore hardware gaming sites on the net and everyone got their panties in a bunch. Dont blame me when wooster comes in over the top rope flaming.

The only point I was trying to make is that most people dont realize the limited importance of benchmarks, that they are not the end all of computer/gaming metrics, and that this opinion should be voiced in *this* as an appropriate location.

But it seems there has been a strong pull towards pilling on my posts no matter what the content even from some more should I say senior members.
disappointing.

disappointing.
And once again, no one is saying they are the end all of computer gaming metrics.

I humbly disagree, and would actually say Most people esecially noobs/non technical peeps usually once they find out about benchmarks and the typical reverance they are given think that benchmarks are end-alls.

On-top of that whats with all the HardOCP hate?
Those guys been deep in the trenches for a long time now.

Then again, noobs/non technical, don't really post on internet forums, esp one devoted to Overclocking and Custom Rigs now do they?
THIS site gets its fare share of noobs, they dont necessarily create accounts or make lots of posts, but the do read and rely on resources made available to them like say a benchmark tracking system.

I dont know why you keep this up? Was it really that big of an affront to your sensibilities?

Arch, what do you want me to say? If you don't want to pay attention to the benchmarks, then I suggestion you don't look at them.

some of the folks here were banned from Hard for what they feel were flimsy excuses and the leaders of the site overreacting because they got their feelings hurt (as I understand it).
