Anyone order from this builder? If so, how was the process and are you happy w/ their support as a vendor?

They offer a machine that has me thinking of NOT getting an m17x.

I'm looking at ordering from Xotic as well. I saw in the discussion thread that you placed your order. Please let me know how it goes. I hope to be ordering in a week or two when the tax refund comes in.

Medic! Will do...so far so good, everytime i send a note or an email i'm getting quick responses from their customer service dept. I'm getting the lappy detailed w/ paint and logo and even that person has been in touch just to say he received my artwork/instructions and thanked me. Right now, a BIG THUMBS UP from the standpoint of service!

I'll create a thread here when I get it!

Thanks! I have sent two emails to their customer service asking questions about bank wire transfers as a payment method (to qualify for the cash discount price) and have heard nothing back from them... it's been 4 or 5 days now.

I'll probably just do a credit card so there's no clearing time... it's the whole instant gratification thing, lol.

Bank wire transfer cleared at the end of the 3rd day. I'd highly suggest using a CC if you don't want to wait a long time. Also, if you are in CA, they ship to NE first, then to CA to avoid sales tax. That process started on Friday and it wasn't re-shipped until the following Wed.

3 days isn't too bad. I might consider that. What's the average build time?

And, did you guys see that they have the glossy screen now in the same resolution as the matte screen? I think it was a $50 upgrade, don't remember right off.

Medic...the build time is 3 to 7 work days, so that's not too bad at all, although the custom paint job may add a day! Not sure about the screen upgrades, i automatically to the super glossy 1920x1200!

I'm looking at the 5793... it's a single vid card so the lower resolution glossy screen is appealing to me. 7-10 days is really good. I can remember having to wait almost 3 weeks for my dell to be built when I ordered it years ago.

Ummmmm.....Aren't these people just a reseller of Sager?

yes and no... they offer more in their machines than sager will build on their own site and they personalize. Xotic (and PC Torque I believe) also build and resell other makes of laptop as well....consider them like that local car expert that will take your Corvette and make it a work of art, up its performance and make what came from the factory pale in comparison!

Alienware, of which I own a 7700, has basically been a 'reseller' of Clevo, etc., as well, but like Xotic, etc., they up the ante, add more power, more options, etc.

hope that helps,

They are a Sager reseller. . . not an OEM. Like all other resellers they offer the same core parts as Sager and are built by sager and more then likely drop shipped directly to the end user without ever being seen by an xoticpc employee. The only thing they seem to offer different is the paint jobs.

Now alienware is an OEM. They assemble all of their systems from bulk parts ordered from Clevo.

Sager does not allow companies to sell under their name if Sager does not asseble it. There are companies that claim to be OEM. . . but order from Sager, as not to cause any drama i won't mention any names.

that's weird because they're offering things that Sager doesn't...odd!

hope that helps!

Only diferences i see from the 2 is xotic offer 2x512 for the memory and 1x1024. . . where as Sager only offers the 1x1024. Other than that i just see a buch of extra stuff like external speakers and sound cards. Most of which you could probably get cheaper from new egg.

Nothing too add?

/shrug

Contacted Sager and they said they can do the same memory configuration on request, but the dont offer it in their system builder because it isn't cost effective for users who upgrade down the road.

Like I said, just another reseller w/ the exact same stuff.

When choose between resellers you really need to look at reputaion and their response time for feilding sale inquiries.

hang in there luke and good luck w/ your future purchases, i've been more than pleased with Xotic as a builder of my new system and they've been more than responsive...again, thanks for your input and good luck...

You've definitely been a huge help to me and I, too like you, would recommend XoticPC as a sager builder!

Good deal to you, too!

later pat!

I didn't notice the memory differences, but there are others.

I have spec'd out a 5793 on both sites with the exact same options. Through Sager it's $2479, but through Xoticpc it's $2459, or $2385 if I use one of their payment options that gets the 3% cash price discount.

In addition to that, the shipping is cheaper. UPS Ground through Sager is $44.48 while the same shipping through XoticPC is $37.00.

And, finally, the warranty through Xotic is different. The basic warranty is still one year on parts, but is 3 years on labor through XoticPC, whereas it's one year on parts and labor through Sager.

They're not huge differences, but every little bit counts when I'm spending around $2500.

The few people I've seen that have bought from Xotic were very happy with their customer service (of course, I have only read a few reviews). In a previous post, I commented that I hadn't heard back from their customer service about a payment method question that I had and it had been 4 or 5 days. Within about 2 hours of that post, I received a PM from Justin@XoticPC. I didn't get a chance to reply to it before the weekend, but to me it shows that they are concerned if a customer or potential customer has a complaint of any kind.

Medic: I agree completely, plus the fact that there are differences in the build shows me they're pretty hands on with their builds....so I definitely, at least at this point, feel like I've made a pretty good choice. Hey, and I love AW as well, the 7700 I own is a fantastic piece of equipment, but it's broken down too many times in three-plus years and the support from AW has been 'less than cooperative'...

All sager resellers are cheaper then Sager. . . or else why would you buy from a reseller.

You will note you can find the same priceing (or at least it should be) on many other sites:

Pctorque.com
Discountlaptops.com
Poewernotebooks.com

As far as warranty plans through the reseller, browse the forums and look at what happened to PCTorque a while back when they did that. IHMO a warrant from the OEM builders of the machine is far more valuable then one for a company who just sells them. Just my .02

P.S. Sorry to seem like I am trying to troll but i just get annoyed when people say things like "These guys have more options" and then are not able to tell you what. Expecially when every response they offer sounds like a sales pitch for the company ::Cough::

I've never bought from xoticpc but every time I ask them questions Justin responds very quickly and that is always a plus.
