How has XoticPC been? - Page 3

Still no word on my refund :-( Hoping to hear something by tomorrow.

Have they received the laptop back yet?

PM Justin@XoticPC... he seems to be quick to respond to PM's and can probably give you whatever information is available.
Justin is fast, service tends to be slower. I show they received it Monday.

One thing I noticed on their site for the return information is that they will deduct some (or all, don't remember right off the top of my head) of the cost of Windows if Windows has been activated. But, windoes comes activated from Sager and there's nothing you can do about it.

That being the case, I think if they are going to deduct a portion because of windows activation, they need to send the windows license key and discs back to you.

On another note, I'm getting those blue screens as well, I think it has to do with the Robson and will be looking further into that on the forums here and contacting Sager to see what the deal is. I'm on my second re-install of the second day of having the laptop.

(NOTE THAT INCLUDING THIS HERE IS NOT MEANT TO REFLECT ON XOTICPC AS IT IS A SAGER ISSUE. IT'S INCLUDED HERE BECAUSE OF THE PREVIOUS DISCUSSION ABOUT THE SAME IN THIS THREAD.)

Well check was sent. Full price minus shipping so no deduction for vista ultimate. Still need to receive and cash it but as of now not bad.

I didn't have Robson. So the blue screens are coming from something else.

As of now I'm thinking of buying one of those Gateways with the 8800GTS when they hit $1099 again, then spending $250-350 for a T8300 or T9300, and calling it good. Lower screen resolution means less pixels to push from the less powerful GPU. Total cost is about 1/2 that of the Sager which means that I can buy a 46+ inch LCD TV also.

I'd say thus far XoticPC is fine. The sager product I was disappointed in though.

Well... I don't know what I did different, but this time the Robson installed fine from the separate (not the driver) disc that was included with the notebook. No bluescreens immediately after this time and the associated applications are present. So far so good.

I have to agree though that XoticPC is pretty good. I've been happy with my experience so far, although that experience is limited to the purchase. I haven't actually utilized support or anything yet.

I also had a horrible experience with xoticpc. I placed an order for a Sager NP5797 ($3000+ laptop). I used a coupon I found online for $37 off of shipping. The coupon was accepted by their system, order was placed, all is good. I get an email the next day stating the coupon code doesn't apply for the laptop I ordered. I spoke to them over the phone and by online chat asking where on their website does it state it doesn't work for that laptop. I was treated in a rude manner and never did get pointed to anything other than a general disclaimer that said some codes are only accepted for particular systems. Basically they weren't going to accept the code although their system accepted it and the order was placed. Because I was mislead and treated in a rude manner, I canceled my order. I'll use pctorque or the sager website instead. Avoid at all costs!

That's too bad. When did this happen?

Made the order yesterday, canceled today.

^^ Here are the facts. You can decide who was out of line.

While placing an order for a Sager NP5797 this person attempted to use a free shipping coupon offered only on ASUS laptops. Before processing her order we informed her that the free shipping coupon could not be used for the Sager NP5797 purchase.

She contacted us with demands for free shipping. We informed her that the free shipping code was only advertised for ASUS laptops, and that this is also clearly stated on our website *FAQ. She canceled her order, which we had not accepted in the first place and not charged her credit card.

That's simply not correct. I never asked for free shipping, I requested discounted shipping as the code implied - $37 off shipping. Your system accepted the code, you decided not to honor it. It's a shame XoticPC would rather lose business for a $3200 laptop over discounted shipping - $37.
^ I stand corrected the -$37 is the coupon code for Free Ground Shipping ($37) on ASUS models and what was used on your order for the Sager NP5797 that we unfortunately could not accept.

If the coupon is only for certain models/brands the blame should not be put on XoticPC. You should pay more attention to the promos.

Nowhere on your website does it specifically say that coupon code is for ASUS model laptops and excludes Sager. For your system to accept the code during the order process, and for you to then say, oh by the way, that code doesnt apply after the fact, is misleading and I'd rather not deal with a company that misleads their customers. You go to any other website that accepts online promo/coupon codes, if they aren't applicable, they won't let you make the order. They don't send you an email the next day and say sorry, but we're charging you more.

I gave the details on my next post. Nowhere does the promo code say it's only for ASUS laptops. Not only that, but the code was accepted by their system. How is it my fault that I find a promo code for discounted shipping, enter it into their system, it is accepted by THEIR SYSTEM??

It is listed in our Website FAQ. If you review our product line you will see a common trend with advertising of Free Shipping with ASUS models, unfortunately not Sager models.

XoticPC needs to have a system that filters which promo codes work for which laptops and doesn't accept promo codes that shouldn't be applied to products it's not elgible for...plain and simple. This avoids all confusion and would allow you to help better serve customers and potential customers instead of arguing with them in online forums.

Oh, by the way, PCtorque.com is offering free ground shipping for sager laptops!
