Hello,

i own a Dell e1705 T7200 2GB etc ...

i previously had installed vista 32 bit and had run into a few problems mainly with the USB ports. In fact i was using different USB drives either flash or external enclosures.

At some point when i borrowed a friend's exteranl HDD vista would ask me for the device drivers. I tried the USB HDD at other computers and it connected normally. I tried other USB drives and the same story repeating, it alwasy asked to locate the driver for the device though it had found the name of the device!

I figured, i could only access the USB sticks/flash HDD drives i used before and that Vista had previosly recognised, and it could not recognise any USB storage device whatsoever from that point on.

I re-installed Vista, now the 64 bit version, but just after a few days of using it, the same thing is happening. Vista recognises only my two storage devices, and asks for drivers for every other I plug in into different USB ports on my laptop (i tried different tests). Basically the same thing as with Windows Vista 32 bit which i had previosly.

I do not know if it has to with any of the windows updates, or with my laptop USB hub goign bad (but since other devices work i doubt this)!!?

Any ideas appreciated!

Martin
