Disable the QuickPlay buttons at the BIOS-level

aka prevent the notebook from turning on when you touch the QuickPlay buttons.

Hello, I've recently got a dv6500se laptop (Core 2 Duo T5250, 2GB RAM, 250GB HD). It is really great and has a good cost-benefit.

However, one thing is really annoying me: The QuickPlay thingy. Actually the "feature" where the laptop gets turned on when you touch one of the QuickPlay buttons. These buttons are so sensible that even som dust can turn the thing on! Also, who on hell would want the notebook to be turned on by touchpad buttons?

So, the question is: Is there a way to disable it in the BIOS? If not, is there a BIOS update for this particular model that I could apply to get this thing turned off?

Thanks,

Marcelo.

Hi, FF et al,
Did you ever find out how to disable this quickplay thing?? Major PITA as it pops on virtually at random. I don't want to uninstall but sure would like to have some control over it!
Thanks for any help!
Jim

FYI I found I can disable the Quickplay buttons through Windows Task Manager (ctrl-shift-esc). On reboot they are live again but at least there is a little control available.

Would you mind telling us how exactly did you do that? Thanks.
