Hard Drive Space Slowly Being Eaten!

Hi

For some reason everytime I open my laptop the hard drive seems to be losing GB's. I opened it once it was 200g, next 196, then 194, so on. I'm not downloading anything. To me it seems like some kind of daily back up or something my computer does when I turn it on. Please any assisstance would be much appreciated... I dont eventually want to see 10 Gigs left. I am wondering if this is Vistas doing or some Dell crap.
I activated Computerace in the BIOS. Thanks

Heres system specs if its relevant.

Dell XPS M1330
Windows Home Premium - 32bit
CPU - Intel C2D T7500 2.2GHZ
RAM - 4GB 667 MHZ
HDD - 320 GB 5400 RPM
8400 GS

it's vista's System Restore and Previous Versions backing up stuff, it only uses a certain percentage of the drive (dunno what it is offhand by default, i think its changeable in the control panel somewhere), so itll balance out eventually as it deletes older backups to make room for newer ones

Wow! I took of system restore... and BAM! gained 40 GB's :O. Man... more and more reasons seem to be popping up for me to change back to XP pro. Did XP pro do these large system restores? When I checked system restore off It didn't give me the option to stop creating restore points only. I had to delete all the system restore points to stop it. I don't mind system restore as long as I choose when to make the restore points.

Do it....all the drivers are there for the 1330.

As soon as I saw the title of your post it screamed Vista.

Uninstall vista and get a free, cpu, ram,HD and battery life upgrade

i turned system restore off on xp and i did the same thing on vista when i got my m1330... I am actually not hating vista as much as i thought i would, seems to work pretty nicely after a few tweaks here and there (all pretty much the same crap i did on xp)
