Acer Aspire 5600 Backlight failure

Hi, I have Acer Aspire 5600. Recently it has suffered a minor fall from the couch to the floor . Now my baclight won't light up. Laptop boots up fine, I can see that it starts windows, I can hear all the sounds - everything seems to be working fine except the backlight. Is it the inverter failure (fuse burnt out or something) or could it be the whole backlight lamp. Is there any way to check that. And also is there any other things that might cause this? I have pressed the FN button in all the possible ways, so it is no that. I do not have any electrical equipment to measure amperage ar anything else! Please help!

. hook up to an external monitor to verify that video output still functioning
. verify some clip/switch around the lcd frame making sure that there is no damage
. if u faintly saw thru ur lcd, chance that ur backlights r gone

cheers ...

Thanx...I found the problem - that was on/off switch that shuts down the backlight when the monitor is closed. It was stuck in "backlight off" position. I could not fix it, so i just disconnected it from the mo-bo, here is the picture: http://picasaweb.google.com/vint202/TechStuff
