Problem with Arima 24K XT Plus (Arima W651-DI Board)

Hey there!
I bought an Arima 24K XT Plus a few days ago (it comes with the Arima W651-di board) and I chose the option without operating system. Now here's my problem: I can't install the audio drivers on it at all. First, I can't detect for sure which audio device it has since not even Everest knows (it reports it as being Intel Unknown audio device). I tried reinstalling Windows XP Pro but it still has the same problem.
Could anyone help me find the drivers for this board and help me install the audio?
Thanks in advance.

Well, thanks for your reply but that thread you linked to has been posted by me (yes, I'm Portuguese) and I didn't get any answer from them. The only person who's replied to me on that thread is a friend of mine who tried to clarify my problem to them. But since you linked it, there's a report of everest of my computer on that thread, on the link on my first post. If any of you could help me I'd be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance and special thanks to qhn for replying to me at least

I'm gonna try it right now, thanks for the quick response

EDIT:

I tried Astra32 and it says Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller (ICH8 Family) but I still can't get the right drivers for XP.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply man but that doesn't actually apply to my computer. As I previously said, my computer has an Intel sound chip. Those drivers you linked me to are for a Realtek sound chip, therefore incompatible.
Thanks anyway.

Yes mate, I tried installing it right off when you posted that comment, even though I knew it wouldn't work.
Thanks anyway.

well, did some more research, the Intel 82801H HD Audio Controller (ICH8 Family) is found in many newer laptop models (hp dv 65xx, acer, etc ...) and sorry to say that they all use Realtek driver SUCCESSFULLY under VISTA. No go so far under XP.

my next recommendation is to download the High-Definition XP drivers driect from Realtek site
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

and give it another try

Well I just tried the drivers for Windows XP that were on Realtek's page and no sound =/
It asks me for IDT High Definition Drivers.
The driver I got installed on Windows Vista is the Sigmatel High definition driver. I tried installing an older version of this driver on XP but it didn't work. I got an error message notifying me that no hardware suiting the installer had been found on my machine so it's kinda confusing how Vista uses the Sigmatel driver.
Thanks anyway!

well, i guess that u just have to google "IDT High Definition Drivers" and go thru the ones shown one by one until u luck out on one.

or go back and force a manual install - u choose the INF from the extracted driver folder. Have u had any more lucks within the portuguese forum/community?

Not really... they've never answered me about this issue. About the manual install, I've tried forcing a manual install with many drivers, IDT drivers included and none were sucessful. I also tried a previous version of the same driver I have on Windows Vista (for Windows XP, obviously) but it didn't work either. It says the audio service cannot be started and it gives me the error with code 10 in the device manager. I really have no clue what to do about this specially because Arima doesn't give any more support these days and my laptop isn't even listed on their website, neither is the board. I tried searching driverguide and nothing. I also tried using programs like driverguide toolkit, driveragent, drivergenius and nothing...
There's gotta be something I can do about this but right now I'm clueless.
If posting a report about my hardware here helps, just tell me and I'll do it as soon as I get home.
Thanks for helping.

Cheers,

lets give this one a shot:
. expand the property of the device in question and look for the DEV and SUB value under the detail tab
. http://www.pcidatabase.com/ go there, plug in the value and it will tell us who the manufacturer was
. may be then we can narrow the search a bit

According to the device manager on my Windows Vista (on this same laptop) the manufacterer is SigmaTel. But I've tried to install SigmaTel drivers on XP and when I started the installer it returned me the following error message "Setup could not proceed because the hardware was not detected. Please restart your computer and try again". And so I did. But it returned me the same error message.
I've installed KB888111 by Microsoft because I've heard that HD audio wouldn't work on XP without that hotfix but still no better.
I'm guessing this is really a hard one or maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I thought the problem could be the onboard audio being turned off but my BIOS doesn't have an option to turn it on or off. And since I got audio with Windows Vista, it couldn't be that option anyway.

the only i could think of at the moment that caused the device not to be recognised was the lack of the correct chipset driver. go to intel and get the inf setup utility and see

Hey again! I'd like to thank you for all the effort in trying to help me man, I finnaly got my problem sovled.
I called the manufacterer and they created a custom driver for their board to run under windows xp.
And now I'd like to share it here if anyone has the same problem I got

I uploaded it on driverguide and it should be available for download on the next 24h.

Link to the driver: http://members.driverguide.com/drive...iverid=1194674

Much appreciated,
Hallaghan
